A Surprise Addition to the Farm: Meet Our New Sheep!
If you know us, you know our family farm is anything but short on animals. Our land is already bustling with life—two Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs, five horses, a small herd of Aberdeen Angus cows, two Chick Chick Coops overflowing with free-range hens (Eric gathered 30 farm-fresh eggs just this morning!), a few barn cats, and four mischievous Pygmy goats.
Well, apparently, there was room for one more!
This morning, a friend called about an unexpected farm visitor—a stray sheep with no known owner. After searching with no luck, she naturally thought of us. Because really, what’s one more farm animal, right?
Of course, Poppie didn’t hesitate to load up the three oldest grandsons for a little rescue mission. The boys were beyond excited, and before the trailer even made it back, they had already given him a name. (You know how kids are—once an animal has a name, it’s officially part of the family!)
Now the big question is… can goats and sheep live together? We’re about to find out! For now, our new woolly farm friend is settling in with the goats, and we’ll see how it all plays out.
Life on the farm is never dull, but that’s what makes it so special. The grandkids are experiencing firsthand the adventure, responsibility, and joy that come with raising farm animals. And who knows? Maybe this little sheep adoption story is just the beginning of something new.
Stay tuned—because if history tells us anything, this won’t be our last surprise farm animal addition!
